I know I can’t be the only mom out there that loves when you can create an outfit that matches something your little also has in their closet…right? I’m not talking about something that is exactly the same, but a similar outfit. I mean, does it get any better than good jumpsuit for you, and matching striped dress for your baby? So, for all those other crazy fashion obsessed moms out there I’ve rounded up three of my favorite looks for spring and a corresponding look for your little. I plan on recreating one of these looks for Mother’s Day next week, because what better time than to match you mini then when celebrating with family and friends. Happy Friday everyone!
It’s hard to believe that Mother’s Day is just over two weeks away. At this time last year we were anxiously awaiting the arrival or our baby girl and now I am getting ready to celebrate my first Mother’s Day as a mom…crazy! If you are like me, I really appreciate the thought behind a gift just as much as the gift itself. It doesn’t have to be large or extravagant or cost a fortune, just as long as a little thought went into it I’m a happy girl.
If you are stumped on what to get your mom this year think about something like this for the mom that has pretty much everything. Or, this adorable art print that she can hang in her office or at home as a reminder of how much you love her. If it were me, I’d love this pajama set for cozy weekends at home and another one of my favorite candles. Finally, for new moms something like this would be perfect, that way she can keep her baby close to her heart at all times. What are you planning on doing this Mother’s Day?
Today I am so excited to share a peek inside a bedroom renovation I recently finished up for an awesome couple on Long Island. One of the first things my client said to me when I met with her was that she wanted to feel “relaxed” when she came up to bed at night. Truthfully, I didn’t blame her, her old bedroom setup included big bulky pieces and some pretty dated green carpet. After a few modifications to the space itself (new flooring, a raised ceiling, and adding a few extra inches by taking out some of the crawl space along the walls), along with all new furniture I think we definitely achieved that feeling of relaxation.
The room itself had a small footprint, so with some clever storage and closet solutions in the walls of the room, we were able to get away with minimal furniture pieces, which worked out well since they wanted to upgrade to a king size bed. This rug was one of the first pieces we decided on and from there we found the right balance of adding pops of blue with soothing grays.
There are still a few more “odds and ends” that need to be added, but that can happen over time. Right now I know my clients are focusing on enjoying getting to sleep in their own bed again! If anyone is interested in revamping their living space be sure to check out my pricing page here. I’ll be offering a 10% off discount through the end of the month to anyone who contacts me and/or takes my style quiz including the offer IBDSALE10.
When I went on that first outing after I brought Addi home from the hospital I felt like I had to pack everything in her diaper bag “just in case” she needs five pacifiers, and ten of her favorite rattles, I had to be prepared. Now that Addi is almost a year, (seriously, where has time gone!?), I think I pretty much having packing our essentials down to a science. Yes, it occasionally changes when she has a new favorite toy, or like right now we are working on sippy cups instead of bottles, but for the most part I feel pretty prepared when I step out of the house.
That’s why today I am excited to be teaming up with some amazing mom bloggers and Hobo The Original to share some of our our must haves when it comes to a diaper bag packing. One thing I look for in the bag itself, is that, well, it isn’t a traditional diaper bag. This Shelia bag is exactly what I am looking for in a carry-all for baby; and it has this super handy pocket on the outside that is perfect for stashing a bottle (or sippy cup!) on the go. So when it comes to what I carry for my little one here are the must haves, whether we are headed to the park, or the grocery store:
Don’t forget to check out what all the other ladies bring along in their diaper bags by checking out their blogs below. We also have a fun announcement happening tonight at 7pm EST, so check back on my Instagram account then!
This time of year it might sound crazy to be thinking about sweaters, but if you are anything like me, it’s sweater weather pretty much all year round. I’ve been loving any and all things cardigans lately. These styles are ideal to travel with, keep at work when the AC gets cranked up, or during those early summer evening when you need a little extra something to keep warm. What I like about all these options is they are a bit oversized, lighter in weight and their light neutral colors make them the perfect compliment any outfit. If you are looking for a cardigan that’s a bit of an investment you won’t be disappointed with this one (seriously…it’s so flattering!), but this option is also great and the price cannot be beat! Happy Friday!
I love an easy outfit and by easy I mean an outfit I don’t have to think about that just “works.” Pairing neutrals is one of my favorite ways to achieve this and spring is the perfect time to pull out all your favorite cream, white, tan and light brown items and mix and match your favorites. A version of this outfit has been on repeat lately and if you happen to be in the market for a great pair of affordable white denim, look no further than this pair. The best part about them is they come in just under $65! Happy Monday everyone!
Navigating you way through online sales can be a bit intimidating and even lead to some impulse buying that you might regret later. We just came off one of the biggest and best Friends & Family sales, at least in my opinion, and hopefully you picked up some great Spring and Summer staples for your wardrobe. But, if you didn’t, or need to update your kiddos closet, your hubby’s wardrobe, or even your home decor, here are some items you wont’ want to pass up. The best part is they are ALL on sale.
– This pretty much the perfect LWD for Spring (swoon!); – This whole site is 22% off, but this sweatshirt is perfect for all the moms or moms to be in your life; Not a mom? They have tons of cute tops and accessories for pretty much any fashion girl; – If you haven’t pulled the trigger on the lace up shoe trend, now is the time because these beauties are 20% off plus free shipping with code SPRING20; – I love Madewell, and even though sweater weather is on it’s way out I can totally see myself wearing this one on those chilly summer evenings paired with white denim and cute sandals.
-If the guy in your life is anything like my husband he is constantly loosing his sunglasses. My husband loves Carrera sunglasses and with 25% off the entire site I might have to pick him up a pair of these;
– I love a guy in a classic t-shrit and jeans, and these soft cotton t-shirts are no exception. You can get 20% off with code TIMETOSHOP;
– This cozy hoodie is perfect for those chilly spring and summer evenings, or for a casual weekend family lunch.
For The Littles
-During the early months when you little one seems to be growing by leaps and bounds Old Navy clothing is a must. But seriously, how cute is this little set!?
– I have been looking for a cute dress for Addi to wear during a family photo session we will be doing in June and I pretty sure this dress is just what I envisioned her wearing.
-One of my favorite stores to shop for my home is having a Spring refresh sale, and there are just too many awesome items to pick just one; – If you saw my post earlier in the week, you may have seen this pom pom pillow. I am still in love with it and think it would look amazing in any bachelorette pad; – I just purchased this blanket for a client of mine, and it is so softy and cozy I might have to pick one up for myself in the ivory color.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy Friday!
It’s friends & family season folks and while most people think now is the time to shop for their closet I, of course, think it’s time to shop for my home. The update doesn’t have to be dramatic, maybe a few lighter colored candles, a new bright throw blanket or even some pretty colored coffee table books will all help you achieve a bright spring look. I’m definitely taking advantage of not one but TWO while two of my favorite online retailers run their friends & family sales. Get 25% off your entire purchase with code INTHEFAM on Shopbop and get 25% off your entire purchase with code FRIENDS on Bloomingdale’s. So, whether you are shopping for you or your home you won’t want to miss these savings.
It seems only appropriate that I write this post as my teething and very tired almost 11 month old is sleeping soundly on my chest. Judge all you want, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do…right? I have been debating writing this post for a little while now, but I hope that sharing my thoughts and feelings on how I view work life and family life can help someone, or will sound all too familiar to another mom trying to juggle it all. I am not an expert and I only have one kid, (so to all you mamas with more than one kid please share your wisdom!), but day by day I am learning a little more about what it means to be a mom, what it means to make it as a small business owner and most importantly I am learning a little bit more about what it means to be me.
This past year I feel like I have not only given birth to a beautiful baby girl, but have also given “birth” to my new business and blog. These past almost 11 months have been some of the most challenging and rewarding and I am still trying to find the right “balance” between being a present parent and a successful small business owner. At first, I thought I had to be “supermom” and “superwoman” all at once, but recently I have let myself off the hook and let myself just be my best me. There are certainly days when I feel like I am whizzing through my to-do list at home and at work, but there are also days when I feel like I am getting absolutely nothing done. Both are OK, and realizing that I cannot do it all (not all at once at least!), has been one of the biggest eye openers for me.
While I am pretty certain being a mom will be the most important thing I do in my life, I am constantly struggling with the idea that being a mom is what defines me. It took awhile for me to get used to saying that I was a mom and I can see how easily you get caught up in everything that goes along with mommy life. But, then I remind myself that I am a wife, daughter, sister, business owner, creative, and “mom” is only one thing that me, and in the end all of these things make me a better mom.
I’ll leave you guys with one last thought on this whole being a working mom thing, and that is that I have to say I have been so incredibly surprised by the amazing communities I have found of other working moms just doing inspiring things, and I feel so fortunate to be able to be a part of these groups. Many times I have not met these women in person, but we all share triumphs and failures and celebrate each others successes. These women are sometimes just the push I need to keep going when I feel like I have hit a wall, or I am just too tired. They keep me on track and for that I am so grateful.
To all you mama’s out there, I would love to hear how you are juggling it all so feel free to leave a comment below. Happy Monday!
This weekend I got to take a quick trip to Denver to see one of my best friends and help her check some things off her “to-do” list for her upcoming wedding. We spent the whole weekend shopping, chatting and eating some really amazing food. The weather was just beautiful here, so I am really glad I packed this new blouse. The ruffles along the bottom and back make it more than your simple white top and I cannot wait to pair it with just about everything else in my closet this spring.
While I truly had an amazing weekend, it was also the first time traveling away from Addi for more than 24 hours and even though I tried not to be a crazy anxious mom, it was definitely hard. Luckily, she was in very good hands at home with her daddy. Needless to say, i’m sure it will take every ounce of self control for me not to wake up up when I get home later on tonight, but I hope to spend some quality mommy daughter time with her tomorrow. I hope everyone had an amazing weekend!
