The Perfect Pants for A Post Baby Body

Pants: c/o VFish || Tank Top || Wedges || Sunglasses

Eleanor is exactly three weeks old today so I thought it was about time I get back (or trying to get back ) to a somewhat regular posting schedule, but in all honesty we are still trying to figure out this whole two kids thing so I’m going to do the best I can.   So stay tuned for some new content in the next few weeks, including our maternity photos, a review of some new mom must haves, a post on things that have helped make the past few weeks easier with an infant and toddler and of course some new fashion posts.

Anyway, I thought I would celebrate my return to the blog with my favorite moms in a new installment of our #MommyMonday series and this time we have teamed up with VFish to style some of our favorite pieces from their online boutique.

Since I am only three weeks post partum it’s pretty safe to say my body is not “back to normal”, whatever that means, but I am definitely embracing all this post baby body has to offer.  Lately I like items that are less body hugging and more light and flowy.  These printed pants are every new moms dream, with an elastic waist that sits a little higher up on your hips, they were the perfect choice.  While the weather has been a bit dreary here the past few weeks, next time I am by the pool I can totally see myself wearing this with my favorite one piece swim suit for a day chasing the kids around and then transitioning them to dinner with family or friends.  If you haven’t checked out the Fish site you definitely should, they have a ton of items in a bunch of different patterns that are perfect for the end of summer into the fall.

Don’t forget to head over to check out how my other favorite mom bloggers styled their Fish pieces.  you can check out all of their posts here:

My Favorite Activewear and Loungewear Picks From The Nordstrom Sale (Now Open To the Public!)

Happy Friday and what a week it has been!  Baby girl decided she wanted to make her grand entrance 10 days early and Eleanor Sutton was born Monday morning  in a very exciting whirlwind of events.  I promise I will update you all on that in a much more detailed blog post in the coming weeks, but in the meantime if you have any questions feel free to email or message me I’d be more than happy to answer them.

Now, lets get down to business!  It is the official start of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it is open to EVERYONE as of this morning.  If you follow along on my Instagram account  you may have seen a few products I picked up along the way, and you can read all about what I purcahsed during the early access part of the sale here.  I’ve been back on the site quite a few times today and it seems everything I have my eye on is either something I can wear while snuggling up at home or a cute sports bra or workout top that is seriously motivating me to want to get out and work on my post baby body.  Also, lets be honest, as a young mom of two kiddos these two categories of clothes are what I wear 99% of the time.

So, lets start with activewear. I already purcahsed these leggings and the high waist as been my best friend since returning home from the hospital.  I also have my eye on these and need to act fast because they are almost sold on in the green color (but don’t worry things tend to get restocked!).  Here is the rest of what is on my list:

Moving on to loungewear, I’m obsessing over all the cozy matching sets as well as oversized sweaters that have me counting down the days until chillier weather (well, not really…but you know…).  So far, this hooded open front cardigan is a sale favorite.  It is so soft and Eleanor nuzzles up against it all the time.  It makes me heart melt!  I’ve also had my eye on these favorites and I’m anxiously awaiting for a few to come back in stock in my size:
If you plan on shopping the sale I highly recommend doing it sooner rather than later.  Things sell out fast, in fact, a lot of things are sold out already.  The good news is that they are always restocking items and you might even notice a few new items added over the next few days.  If you want to see all my Nordstrom sale favorites head over to my “shop the boutique” page and happy Friday!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access Starts Today!

I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely like it’s Christmas in July over here because today is the first day of early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  If you are a Nordstrom credit or debit card holder (or have a friend, mom, dad, aunt, distant cousin that has one!)  you get to preview and purchase all of the items from their sale before it’s open to the public on July 21st.

Before you shop: It might sound silly but this sale can get a bit overwhelming so it’s always good to have a plan before starting to shop.  For me, I first like to take inventory in my closet and say what do I  “need” or are their items I have been on the hunt for? Next, I really like to keep the items i purchase under $100.  I do make an exception for the perfect pair of jeans and handbags, but when it comes to shoes, dresses and tops there are so many awesome options at that price point.  This year I will also be looking for items that will work on my post baby body as the end of summer approaches and we head into the fall. So for you it might be that you are starting a new job, or you have a specific event coming up like a wedding, or bridal shower.

Over the next weeks I’ll be sharing more of my favorites from this sale but for now here are some of my top choices in clothing, shoes, and accessories. Time to shop!

Dresses

Tops

Jeans

Maybe it’s because I haven’t worn jeans in so long, but when I saw this pair I knew they were a must have.  I love the distressed look with the cropped bottom.

Shoes

Remember when I talked about items I have been looking for, for a while?  These boots are a total splurge BUT I have been eyeing a pair similar and now that these are on sale I might have to pull the trigger and make the purchase

Kids/Baby

With a new baby arriving shortly I can’t help but pick up a few cute things for her and her big sister.  These bows are amazing and so soft for a new baby.  A girl can never have too many bows right?

Home

I have been working on filling in a few corners of our house with odds and ends that will make it feel complete.  Sometimes people forget that Nordstrom has a great home decor department especially when it comes to cute decorative objects.  I also find it a good time to stock up on fun housewarming or host/hostess gifts.

You can also head over to my “Shop The Boutique” page to see all my favorites in one spot.  I’ll be updating it regularly as items sell out.  And remember, early access is from July 13- July 20, then it opens to the general public on July 21-August 6.  Happy shopping everyone!

Dressed For The 4th With Mill Street Boutique

Dress: c/o Mill Street Boutique || Shoes: Steve Madden || Sunglasses :Karen Walker || Bag: Old (similar here + here both on sale!)

At 37 weeks pregnant I’m not going to lie, getting dressed in the morning has been a bit of a challenge and lately I just want to wear my husbands t-shirts and my stretchy pants.  But, when I was packing my bags for our long weekend trip to the Hamptons for the July 4th holiday I knew I needed to change things up a bit and i decided to trade in my stretchy pants for all the loose fitting, flowy dresses, which if I’m being honest are even more comfortable!

I love finding dresses that are non maternity that I can wear over my bump and this maxi dress from Mill Street Boutique was calling my name when I saw it online a few weeks ago.  I’ve had a few questions from ladies on how I go about looking for non maternity- maternity clothes and one of the first things I look for is a loose fitting silhouette.  Then, I look to see what the fabric is like, if it’s thicker or seems to be a little stiffer it probably won’t work as well as something light stretchy.  Well, this silky white dress is just perfect since it gathers around the neck and has no real waist.  While I paired it with my favorite gold sandals, I could also  see myself wearing this to a summer party with wedges or heels.

If you haven’t already, be sure to head over to Mill Street Boutique to see their fun selection of clothes and accessories for the summer.  They are also running a 20% off sale through the holiday with code FOURTH at checkout.  And, be sure to check out how my other fashionable mom bloggers styled their Mill Street Boutique pieces over the holiday weekend!

Blush, Blue + A Pregnancy Update

Maxi Dress (non maternity!) || Hat || Sandals || Jean Jacket (old, similar here)

Here on Long Island the weather has abruptly made the change from somewhat warm to hot, humid and sticky… ugh.  While I am so ready for summer I was not prepared for the toll the warm weather would take on my body while pregnant.  I feel like no matter how much water I drink I am swollen and sweating all the time and all I want to do is sit on the couch in the air conditioning.  But, with some work to finish up before baby girl arrives, and toddler that only sits for about five minutes at a time, we are trying everything we can to stay active and cool at the same time. I really don’t remember feeling this sluggish when I was pregnant with Addison.  I also don’t remember being this big, though I am sure I was! The hardest part of this point in my pregnancy is trying to explain to a toddler that I can’t pick her up.  Instead, we are doing a lot of extra hugs, kisses and hand holding, but I know sometimes she just wants to be in mommy’s arms.

If I were allowed to go to my 40 week due date I’d have just under six weeks lift, but since I have to be induced I most likely have anywhere from three to five weeks left, and something tells me it’s going to be on the shorter end of that timeline.  I am also saying a little prayer each day that this baby comes on her own so I don’t have to go through the induction process again, but in the end whatever I have to do I will.   When I went in for my last weekly appointment baby C was measuring in the 87th percentile and is already over 6lbs!  While it’s pretty cool to get to track her progress week by week I always get a bit of anxiety when I go in to the doctor’s office.  With Addison, I was sent back and forth to the hospital more than a few times for extra monitoring so I never know if that is going to be the case this time around.  I have  also reached  full on nesting mode and have sterilized all the baby bottles and pump parts, picked up a few new tiny outfits for baby girl and done a bunch baby laundry, as well as packed our hospital bags.

Finally, I am trying to  finish up a few projects around the house including our outdoor deck (I can’t wait to share it!), the nursery, and our master bedroom.  I am really hoping I have these things done before baby arrives so I can enjoy our new life as a family of four without distractions.

Oh, and as for this dress I am wearing it is a non maternity style and around $60.  It’s lined and a great option whether you are pregnant or not.  I am not usually a pink person but I just love the color and paired with a jean jacket it made the perfect outfit for dinner out with the family last week.  If you have any questions about sizing feel free to ask!

The Perfect Carryall

Bag: c/o Birdling Bags || Top: PinkBlush (similar option here) || Cutoff Shorts: H&M || Shoes: Soludos (old, similar option here)

Addi’s Outfit: Jacket: Gap || Top: Genuine Kids || Shoes: Gap

Happy Monday everyone! I’m sorry the past week or so has been a bit silent around here, but I have to say the end of this pregnancy is really kicking my butt!  I honestly don’t remember being this uncomfortable with Addison, but luckily I have only a few more weeks to go (six at the very most…happy dance!) until we meet our new baby girl.

Anyway, we’ve been trying to pass our time by spending as much time outside as possible.  The weather has been a bit unpredictable with all the rain we have been getting, but when we see a break in the clouds Addi and I have been taking full advantage of the close proximity to our town, which means restaurants, coffee shops and frozen yogurt…yum. Lately my little girl has had a mind of her own which means she wants to walk everywhere herself without her stroller, this also means I feel like I need to pack a larger bag than usual, mostly because I can’t throw things like sippy cups, water bottles, sunglasses and jackets in the bottom of her stroller.  At first I was carrying my bag and a smaller backpack for Addi, but I soon realized that left no free hands for anything else.  So, I decided to consolidate it all into this one larger “Day Tripper Bag” by Birdling Bags and it has been the perfect catch all bag for our afternoon outings.  The large inside and canvas exterior will also make it an ideal bag to pack for a picnic or a beach bag for later this summer with more than enough room for towels, sunscreen and beach toys.  It also comes in a smaller version and they have weekender bag that would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift.

Don’t forget, since today is #MommyMonday  head over to see how my other favorite and fashionable mammas are using their Birdling bags.  You can find there posts here:

Wednesday Wish List: Post Pregnancy Additions

ONE || TWO || THREE || FOUR || FIVE || SIX || SEVEN || EIGHT || NINE

With the holiday weekend coming up it’s hard to believe summer is fast approaching.  For our little family that also means only a few more weeks until our newest addition arrives and our worlds are changed for the better.  Officially, I have just over two months left, but since I am already being induced early, and baby girl is measuring between two and three weeks ahead, it’s looking like I have somewhere between six and seven weeks left to go, but if this baby girl is anything like her sister she will probably take her sweet ol’ time no matter what my doctor and I decide.

As far as I’m concerned I have hit the stage in my pregnancy where the bump is just getting out of control and some days I feel like I just want to wear an oversized shirt and my husbands sweatpants and call it a day.  So, while finding outfits for right now is not so fun, looking for some new summer additions to my wardrobe for post baby has been one of my go to ways to pass the time (my life is so exciting…i know).  From what I remember with Addison, post pregnancy I just wanted to be in all the lose fitting,  outfits I could find.  So dresses like this have been high on my wish list.  I have also had my eye on this striped number and a few days ago I preordered it and can’t wait to try it on post baby.   Since my family also spends a lot of time at our beach house in the summer not wearing a bathing suit is probably not an option, so a cute colorful one piece is a must.  What items are on your summer wish list?  Leave your recommendations below I can’t wait to check them out!

Mother’s Day Celebrations With Janie and Jack

My Dress: ASOS || My Shoes: Madewell

Addison’s Dress, shoes, bow and sunglasses: c/o Janie and Jack

I cannot believe it is almost the middle of May let alone almost Mother’s Day.  What is even more unbelievable is that tomorrow my baby girl will be turning TWO.  At this time two years ago I was already laying in a hospital bed thinking our newest family member would be arriving soon.  Well, she had her own plans decided to make us wait just a bit longer, but knowing how she is now I am no longer surprised by this.

The year Addison was born Mother’s Day was the weekend before she actually arrived, and I remember it still feeling very surreal that I was actually going to be a mom.  We celebrated the day like we had many times before, with both my family and my husbands, but this time I was included in the gift and card exchanges.  It was even more strange because she wasn’t even here yet but everyone kept telling me that you are a mom from the moment you find out you are pregnant not just when the baby arrives and looking back now I cannot agree more.

I’ve always thought it was a little odd to just celebrate moms one day of the year.  I mean, most of us can agree that without your mom life would just not happen as smoothly as it does.  As a kid you never really understand exactly what your mom does, but now that I am older, and a mom myself, I realize a mom is not only “mom” but she’s so much more.  In one day she can accomplish what others might take a week to accomplish and she does it because she loves her family and would do anything for them.  This year I hope you take the time to tell your mom, grandmother, aunt, or special person in your life that has filled the role of mom, exactly how you feel.  You’d be surprised how much a little “thank you” or “I love you” can really mean to someone.

Since this weekend is filled with special celebrations that is as good of an excuse as any to get a little more dressed up than usual…right?  Addison tends to give me a bit of a hard time when it comes to “dressing up”, but when she saw this dress from Janie and Jack she ran over to it and said “Mama pretty!” So, using the excitement to my advantage I changed her into it and to my surprise she even stood still when I was clipping the bow in her hair and I know there are other moms and can relate to a squirmy kid when trying to comb or put up their hair!  Once we put on the shoes I could not believe how grown up she looked.  There is no more baby in her and she is all energetic toddler, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.   I’m pretty sure we will be recreating this look at some point this weekend because it is just so darn cute.

So, to all the moms out there make sure you get a day of extra kiddo hugs and snuggles and even a little bit of pampering (think breakfast in bed?!).  In my opinion life as a mom is pretty much as good as it gets.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

 one || two || three || four || five || six || seven || eight || nine || ten || eleven || twelve

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, but now that it’s Monday it’s time to get focused and ready for the week ahead!  We have a really exciting week in store because Addison is turing two on Saturday and we get to continue the celebrations with family celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday  I cannot believe my little girl is almost TWO and that she will be a big sister very soon.  I go through mixed emotions, but mostly thank God every day that I get to call this adorable, spunky, strong willed, smart girl my daughter.  Seriously, where does time go!?

If you are like me and feel like time just snuck up on you and still have yet to purchase the perfect gift for Mom, it’s time to get down to business and palace that online order (luckily two day shipping has our backs!).  I’ve rounded up some of the top items on my list this year including these PJ’s you all loved when I posted them on Instagram a few weeks ago.   With baby number two arriving later this summer I have also had my eye on this adorable personalized bracelet.  This would be the perfect gift for any new mom or new grandma if you have it engraved with the names of their new baby or grandchild.  While Mother’s Day isn’t about how many gifts you can get mom, even the smallest gift can be a grand gesture and the first step in telling them just how much they mean to you and how you truly appreciate all they do for you.  In our household I know that Addison, my husband and I would be seriously lost without her gram and grandma because it really does take a village even when you only have one kid!

How are you all celebrating this weekend, feel free to leave your Mother’s Day traditions in the comments below!

Pops Of Blue With Islefield

Scarf: c/o IsleField || Jacket: BB Dakota || T-Shirt: Old Navy || Jeans : J.Crew (old, similar maternity style here) || Bag: Celine (another similar option here) || Sunglasses: Le Specs || Shoes: Joie (Heeled version here)

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We are getting back into the swing of things after spending a few days away watching one of my best friends marry her best friend.  It was a beautiful weekend and I cannot believe it is already over.  Now it’s time to get back to reality right?

I feel like a broken record saying this again but the weather promises to actually warm up and I am really hoping this time it’s true. We’ve had a few nice days here and there but then the rain and chilly weather returns, ugh.  Even though the temperature has only been reaching 50 degrees or so that hasn’t stopped me from wearing all of my favorite spring clothes, including these white jeans and this new scarf from Islefield.  I was introduced to the Islefield brand recently, but since receiving this scarf I have gone out of my way to pair it with some of my favorite outfits, and with Mother’s Day fast approaching it would definitely make a great gift for your mom, wife or special women in your life as a way to say thank you for everything they do. It comes in a few different colors and there a few different styles so you definitely need to head over to the Islefield site and while there definitly browse the rest of the site, because there are few items I can see myself wearing well into the summer months.

Don’t forget, since this is also #MommyMonday head over to see how my other favorite, and fashionable, mammas have styled their scarves:
