In an ideal world, I would live  in a space with a lot of  light, neutral colored furniture, that is always perfectly fluffed and isn’t covered in pet hair.  I would also have an unlimited budget to purchase what I want.  A girl can dream right?  But, my world includes a small baby, a dog, a cat, and honestly, we aren’t always careful when it comes to wiping our muddy feet at the door.  Even with these “challenges”,  I have never thought I needed to sacrifice style or sophistication to achieve a warm and inviting home.
Currently, we live in a split level three bedroom, two bathroom home built in the 50’s.  We know for sure that this isn’t our “forever” home, but I love making this first home a place we can make our first memories as a family.  When we moved in we did A LOT more work then initially planned – we refinished floors, tore out ugly granite tile, repainted everything, refaced the fireplace, painted cabinets, and replaced the countertop in the kitchen and eventually enclosed our garage to make a large playroom/den and add a second full bathroom.
My personal decor style is modern mixed with classic touches.  I love mid-century modern pieces that can be mixed with traditional lines, colors and textures.   I don’t feel our home is anywhere near finished (still on my to-do list: finish decorating our den, re-organizing/decorating our office that now holds both my husband and I, hang new window treatments in the living room and den and maybe get my husband to agree we need to update our second main bathroom).  And, just when I think I have it done, I pretty much start all over again!
