Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m so excited to share a new room reveal with you and today we are talking all about our master bathroom.  Much like the rest of the house, this room was very dated.  Initially, it had only one vanity and a tub that took up more than half the bathroom, and that was just the beginning.  Oh, and did I mention a shower that I could barely fit into?  I think it would be really hard to describe the rest of the space without showing you a few before photos.  So, here are the befores….

BEFORE….

As you can see the space was pretty much a total gut job.  Call me a sucker for the obvious, but I really wanted a light, bright and airy bathroom.  Once we got rid of the large to wood vanity and the yellow tinged tile the space really opened up.  We also knew we wanted to knock down a large portion of the wall surrounding the shower to make the shower over twice its original size, my 6ft 5in husband was super excited about this.  Next, when it came to designing the vanity space, I knew I wanted double sinks but also a spot that I could sit and do my makeup. I came across vanity  setup on on Pinterest I had our contractor make custom cabinets that gave us a similar look and feel.

Some people may think an all marble bathroom is just “too much” but using different tile designs breaks up the all white and gray.  The stacked subway marble tile on the walls also keeps it looking classic so it won’t be something we will want to redo in a year or two, but instead,  it will be a space we enjoy using for a long time.  I must admit the cost for the marble tile was definitely more expensive than if we used a porcelain, glass or ceramic tile, but since it was our master bathroom I did’t mind spending the extra money.

Finally, it came time to add the finishing touches by way of decor.  The runner in front of the tub  added a bit of warmth and coziness to the space, as did the light blue towels and wood lanterns that I scored on sale at Target. I am still deciding on a few more pieces that I want to add to the bathroom, most importantly, what to add to a large empty wall over where our toilet is, but I’m in no rush and I know I’ll find the perfect piece eventually. For now, I am beyond thrilled with the final product and I hope you guys love it too! Also, if you are interested in any more of my design inspiration head over to my Pinterest account and follow me there.  I have boards set up for all kinds of things including my latest home decor obsessions.
